What’s the difference between men’s and women’s eyeglasses frames?
I picked out rx 8584 style Ray-Ban frames at LensCrafters, and they are labeled women’s, but I don’t understand why some frames lenscrafters ray ban frames are women’s and others are men’s. I can tell some frames are obviously more feminine than others (cat eye style). I’m getting them, because I really like them. I just don’t know what the difference is. That’s what I’m asking. What makes a style masculine or feminine? The ones I’m getting look more masculine to me than feminine. Titanium frames with red temples.

Prescriptions are needed because they have to make sure that you get what you need. And because there’s usually a Dr on property. I don’t know if it’s “law”. Most insurance companies (with vision) will cover one pair of glasses a year…if you don’t have vision….then simply wait until you have the cash to spend. Besides that…you should have your eyes checked if you need reading glasses….not every one benefits from simple magnification glasses, and it could actually make your eyes worse if you don’t get what you need. (I wear glasses…one eye is so much worse than the other)I’ve been to D.O.C. and they were cheaper than Lenscrafters. And check with the store…some will let you make payments on frames and / or glasses….

Yes I can help! In fact you can get prescription glasses that look like those for 30 bucks. What a steal, eh? I’m glad you asked because online shopping for eyeglasses is becoming a very popular trend now. Mainly because of how much money you save. I found some links for you from a reputable store you should check them out.http://www.optical4less.com/plastic-eyeglasses/p127/http://www.optical4less.com/plastic-eyeglasses/p136/

Yes, this style is unisex. I suggest buying them here:http://www.optical4less.com/plastic-eyeglasses/p113/Those are replicas but they are high quality replicas. The price is 100 dollars cheaper than the real ones, I’ve compared the 2 myself and the only difference is the brand, seriously. Also, the site offers prescription lenses if you need it so that’s the best deal in my opinion.

there is no objective difference, like you said, women’s ones are meant to have a more feminine design, but a lot of them are rather unisex, size might also be a difference.

Girls can always get away with wearing guy’s stuff, not always the case vice versa. They aren’t really special, but a classic throwback to the 80s Ray Bans that were HUGE among both genders. I would get them, but you may also want a more conservative back up. Finally, who cares what the storekeeper thinks. Being different is always a good option.

They wouldn’t be thick at all… I wear 9’s. And yes, you’re correct about hearing that depending on the frames the glasses will be thicker. Lenses get thicker the larger the radius is, which means that the wider or taller the glasses, the thicker they get. So, that’s why people get round lenses instead of rectangular lenses for strong prescriptions. But none of this matters, because you have a very weak prescription.

I am an eye doctor that prescribes glasses daily. There are certain types of attachable sunglasses that will fit with any frame. They are spring loaded and snap right on to the frames. They may not have a perfect match, but they will cover most of the frame. You should be able to find them on the net if you are savvy enough. There are also some times of sunglasses that older people wear that go over the top of the whole frame, but you probably won’t want those since they aren’t very stylish. Otherwise, there are sunglass attachments that can go with frames, but you have to by a specific frame for them to work. Here is a link that shows a some spring loaded clip ons, and some flip up clip ons. http://www.polarizedoptics.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=31Either one should work.Hope this helps and good luck.
