IF, and that’s a big if, they do it, they will charge you an edging fee. However, more than likely, your current lenses will not fit into your new frame. When lenses are cut for your glasses, they are custom cut with measurements from your eyes and your frame (PD and Frame PD.) It is very difficult, unless your current frame is huge, to get your lenses to be cut down for your new frame. Most eyeglass chains won’t even think about it. Your best bet would be to go to a private office.

Rimless frames, Top rims only, and bright coloured plastic frames are my favorite! Check out the LensCrafters website!http://www.lenscrafters.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category1|-1|11151|10051|WomensFrames|10515Some of the designer frames are so cool, I wish I had glasses.

these are all MY OPINIONS…but…there are multiple reasons:1) the cost of multiple “remakes” and “warranty” replacement is built into the cost of the frame & lenses. something like 15% of all glasses purchases have to be re-done or totally replaced for one reason or another. most of the “warranty” replacement really shouldnt be “warranteed”. its patients driving over their glasses, sitting on them, etc etc but they gripe enough that we have to take it back and replace it for nothing.2) there is no money in contact lens sales anymore3) there is not very much money in examination fees anymoreso of you buy glasses at a private practice, you’re paying for the doctor’s student loans, staffing, rent, overhead, materials, expensive equipment, etc etc etc with your glasses purchase. for the record i drive a 1999 dodge pickup, not a lexus or anything ;)

The cheapest place I know of where you can get prescription eyeglasses is zennioptical.com. The quality is good for the price.

Check out this on-line store for eyeglasses.

Hi Linda, To solve the problem of the frames leaving marks on your skin, clear nail polish will work just fine. If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to tape off the lenses before you “paint”!The nail polish in colours might work as a refinish too, but I’m not sure I’d be trying it on something that was crucial if it didn’t work. If you have an old pair you don’t care about you might give it a try. Rough them up a bit with fine sandpaper first. Lori

How ‘mature’ we talkin’ here? most frames will fit on any man it’s all about attitude! one thing to keep in mind is your hair color and the shape of your face… rimless glasses are what I see on most ‘mature’ men… but.. some can wear more heavier frames but ’small’ lenses to be sure! no more ‘owl eyes’ -very OUT!
