Oxytetracycline Drug Interaction

Your doctor or pharmacist should know if any drug you are already taking, including prescribed drugs and herbal medicines, before taking this drug. The patient also should discuss with the doctor or pharmacist before taking any new pills while receiving this one.

If the drug that you are taking has any of the following components, you can take them at least three hours before or after your Oxytetracycline dose: aluminium salts, calcium supplements, antacids containing aluminium, bismuth, calcium or magnesium, kaolin, iron preparations, eg ferrous sulphate, magnesium salts, strontium ranelate, quinapril tablets having magnesium carbonate, eg Accupro brand, sucralfate, ranitidine bismuth citrate, zinc salt and tripotassium dicitrato-bismuthate.

Oxytetracycline may enhance the anti-blood-clotting results of anticoagulant medications like warfarin. This drug also should not be taken with ergotamine or methysergide.
